the "little" Mansion 462

Mansions 462 is located on 462 West Franklin St. It has been known as a "hip, new bar" with "superb decor inside". Typically during the week, Mansion hosts live jazz & blues bands and live poets on Wednesday nights. Occasionally on the weekends, local entertainment groups hosts college parties.

Naza created an open-ended survey for each nightclub and here are the questions that we asked random students:

When did you go to night club?
Why did you go to _____ nightclub over other nightclubs?

What problems did you see with Black nightclubs?
What do you believe is the cause of problems with Black Night Clubs in Chapel Hill?
Why do you think these same problems don’t occur as often at White night
establishments?
What do you think is a possible solution? (i.e. Shutting them down? More
security? Stricter club membership?)
Who is the cause of problems?
What appears to be the relationship between
Black Chapel Hillians and Black UNC student attendees at night clubs?

Every person stated repeatedly that size was the main issue. With less space, fights are more likely to occur because everyone invades one another's "personal bubble." A female student shared her opinion about the main differences between the black and white clubs in Chapel Hill:

"There are more white people in the area so they don't have to hold lines to
make it seem like there is a party. There are more Locations that usually
have a large amount of space so overcrowding usually isn't an issue. With
more space, people are less likely to bump into each other and fight. With better security and allowing places like Players, Topo, and Library or La Rez be used for "Black" parties, the club will last longer."

Unfortunately, I could not get in contact with the owner but Mansion 462 is currently shut down. Here is a police report of all of the offenses that the Police Department recorded:
Overall, there have been 7 violent reports, 6 alcohol and drug related violations, and 7 vandalism, larceny and breaking & entering violations. The last and most recent report was on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 for breaking and entering into a vehicle and Sunday January 24th, 2010 (likely during a party) for alcohol violations.
